Green Park Way development – planning latest

Mick Garrod, of the Green Park Way Association, has asked us to draw residents’ attention to the following planning applications for Approval of details Reserved by Conditions (ARC) submitted by the developer. This represents the final stage of the planning process, where the developer is required to produce evidence that he has responded to and satisfied the conditions imposed by the planning authority on the proposed development and is, in effect, the last opportunity for residents to comment on the proposals.

An important message from Chillington Patient Participation Group

The Coronavirus pandemic has put medical centres, dispensaries and pharmacies under great pressure and led to staff shortages and difficulty in obtaining medicines and essential supplies. Doctors, nurses and other staff have been working tirelessly throughout, giving up weekends and bank holidays to ensure their patients get the best treatment they can offer.

While the majority appreciate and are grateful for these efforts, unfortunately a minority have resorted to abusive and threatening behaviour towards health centre personnel. This has led to staff being frightened and demoralised, eventually reaching the point where some are leaving the profession altogether, putting even more pressure on the staff that remain.

NHS personnel who put their own health at risk to help their patients should get the respect they deserve. There are no circumstances under which they should have to tolerate threats and abuse. Let us do what we can to help that happen.

Free Trees for All – this Saturday in Chillington

Please come and join us on Saturday morning 19th February from 10.30 at Chillington village hall for a coffee morning, book sale and a free tree giveaway!

The Chillington Community Association will be offering refreshments and a range of books for sale in the hall. Outside, the Parish Council, in conjunction with Devon Wildlife Trust’s Saving Devon’s Treescapes project, will be handing out — completely free — locally-grown native tree saplings, complete with stakes and guards, for villagers to plant in their own gardens, or anywhere else where they have the landowner’s permission. If you would like a sapling or two and cannot collect on the day then please email gailaddison@hotmail.co.uk, who will deliver locally for free.

At the hall there will also be a demonstration of hedge-laying along the boundary hedge to Tanpits Lane — interested volunteers will be invited to lend a hand and learn about this ancient craft from an expert instructor.

We look forward to seeing you all there!
