Stokenham Garden Society
Stokenham Garden Society has served the Village and Parish since the end of World War ll.
We meet monthly between September and April. Each meeting features a guest speaker, followed by refreshments and a question-and-answer session, and over the year we cover a variety of gardening and horticulture subjects. We currently have 30 members with a wide mix of knowledge and backgrounds.
In addition to our monthly meetings we hold several social events throughout the year, with a couple of bring & share suppers, normally followed by a quiz. Our annual Spring Flower and Daffodil Show takes place in March. A club luncheon is held every autumn and this year several members stayed on for afternoon tea (obviously only those with hollow legs – no names will be mentioned!)
At the end of the season each May we run a successful plant and cake stall to raise funds for the club. Other ad hoc events planned include trips to gardens, and a bring-your-own-bottle fish and chips evening at a local beach in June.
Annual membership costs £10, with an additional £1.00 payable for each session attended, which includes refreshments and raffle. Guests are welcome, and pay a £2.00 entry fee.
We meet at Stokenham Parish Hall at 7.15 for a 7.30 start on the second Tuesday of each month. For further information contact Linda Fox on 07714 797777.
